We ended up with the Induction Model after a recall on our standard cooktop-overall we are not as satisfied with the induction. The burner configuration is not as versatile, the standard had five burners in which, at least two had the capability of adjusting the burner size. Also, the induction sometimes shuts off when you first turn it on, this may happen several times before the burner stays on. The induction is easier to clean and keep clean.

Super

I had never before used an induction cooktop. After reading a review in Consumer Reports I discovered that the most efficient cooktops were "induction." I was going to get a gas cooktop before I read the article. Gas is the most inefficient cook top. We have just moved into a home built in 1962 that had its original appliances, so we had to replace them. I chose Kitchenaid because of its good reputation. This cooktop is amazing. I can heat a pot of tea in only 3 minutes. As soon as I turn the "burner" off the kettle stops singing. Everything cooks faster with induction. Also, I seem to have better control with the heat. You can even heat milk or chocolate without scorching. Amazing!

We purchased this cooktop about a year and a half ago. We have just had it repaired for the 4th time. The error code that comes up is F47, two burners go out, and it requires the motherboard to be replaced. The first two errors happened in less than a year and we were told that Kitchen Aid will not replace the unit unless it happened three times in that year. We purchased the extended warranty, so thankfully we are not having to cover these costs. But it is very frustrating clearly having a defective unit, and the company keeps putting bandaids on the problem. We just got off the phone to make sure the cook ware we use is compatible, and it is. They said we will need to wait for it to break again before we have a discussion about future solutions. I just want people buying this to know what our experience had been so they can make an informed decision when they shop.
